Add a Toner
An add-on, not an appointment on its own. Toner is the step that takes freshly lightened hair from its raw yellow or orange state to the shade you actually asked for — ash, beige, champagne, whatever you’re after.
When you need it
Add this if you’re booking Balayage or Babylights, Full Head Highlights, Half Head Highlights or T-Section Highlights. Those four services lighten but don’t tone.
You don’t need it for Full Head Bleach & Tone or Re-Growth Bleach & Tone — the toner is already included.
What to know
- If you’re not sure, add it. Lightening without toning rarely looks like the photo people bring in.
- Toner fades with washing. A purple or blue shampoo at home extends it, and we’ll show you which one suits your shade.

“I was visiting from overseas and usually quite pedantic with my foils. I found Zowie on instagram and I’m so glad I did! She made me the most perfect golden blonde that I’ve been trying to get hairdressers to achieve for a long time now. She was also very thorough and gentle and all around a good person. Hopefully my photos and videos do it justice. iPhone photos tend to make things more white/grey than they are.”

“I know a few people who go to PeterJames and their hair always looks fabulous so I thought I would try too after having a disaster! From the min I worked in for my patch test I felt welcome (so did my daughter who loved the dogs!) James and I talked over what we could do and where I wanted to be (was dark brown/grey! And wanted blonde) he explained it would take a few appointments which I was absolutely fine with as he was so honest.. he booked me in with Peter for the following week and again, Peter went over and explained everything to me, he advised on products etc and I left feeling amazing and had a nice Colour after getting highlights.. unfortunately I was really unwell between my appointments and in and out of hospital but I kept in touch and Peter even sent my products I had ordered to my parents house where I was staying for a bit.I am just home from my second appointment and my hair looks and feels fantastic, the colour is amazing and I cannot believe the shine (I’ve never had a shine when having blonde hair before!) just arranged to go out with my friend tonight as I feel so much more confident!! Can I book a toner on its own?
Not this one. It's an add-on, not an appointment on its own. If your existing blonde has gone brassy or dull between appointments, Stand-Alone Toner & Blowdry is a toner on its own, with a blow-dry.
Which services do I need to add a toner to?
Balayage or Babylights, Full Head Highlights, Half Head Highlights and T-Section Highlights. Those four lighten but don't tone. If you're not sure, add it: lightening without toning rarely looks like the photo people bring in.
Do I need it with a bleach & tone service?
No. Full Head Bleach & Tone and Re-Growth Bleach & Tone already include the toner.
Should I book this or the BlondorPlex Toner?
It depends on the service. If we're using lightener (bleach), book the BlondorPlex Toner. If no bleach is involved, this standard toner is the one.
How long does toner last?
