Half Head Highlights
Highlights through the top and sides — the sections that show — leaving the underneath hair as it is.
Who it’s for
The brightness of highlights at a lower cost and in less time. It works especially well if you wear your hair down, since the underneath layer isn’t on show anyway.
What you also need to book
- A toner. This service doesn’t include one. If we’re using lightener, book the BlondorPlex Toner; otherwise add a toner.
- A cut or a blow-dry, so you leave finished.
What to know
- If you wear your hair up a lot, or tied back most days, full head is the better choice — the underneath shows.
- Patch test: needed if you’re new to colour with us, or haven’t had colour here in the last six months — at least 48 hours before.

“I know a few people who go to PeterJames and their hair always looks fabulous so I thought I would try too after having a disaster! From the min I worked in for my patch test I felt welcome (so did my daughter who loved the dogs!) James and I talked over what we could do and where I wanted to be (was dark brown/grey! And wanted blonde) he explained it would take a few appointments which I was absolutely fine with as he was so honest.. he booked me in with Peter for the following week and again, Peter went over and explained everything to me, he advised on products etc and I left feeling amazing and had a nice Colour after getting highlights.. unfortunately I was really unwell between my appointments and in and out of hospital but I kept in touch and Peter even sent my products I had ordered to my parents house where I was staying for a bit.I am just home from my second appointment and my hair looks and feels fantastic, the colour is amazing and I cannot believe the shine (I’ve never had a shine when having blonde hair before!) just arranged to go out with my friend tonight as I feel so much more confident!! Which parts of my hair are highlighted?
The top and sides, which are the sections that show. The underneath hair is left as it is.
Should I book half head or full head highlights?
Half head works especially well if you wear your hair down, since the underneath layer isn't on show anyway. If you wear your hair up a lot, or tied back most days, full head is the better choice, because the underneath shows.
How is it different from T-section highlights?
T-Section Highlights lighten only the parting and around the hairline. Half head goes through the top and sides as well, so you get the brightness of highlights through all the sections that show.
Is a toner included?
No, this service doesn't include one. If we're using lightener, book the BlondorPlex Toner; BlondorPlex is the only lightener we use, with bond-building technology built into the lightening process. Otherwise, add a toner.
What else should I book alongside it?
As well as a toner, book a cut or a blow-dry so you leave finished.
