Full Head Highlights
Fine sections of hair lightened in foils through the whole head — top, sides, underneath and hairline — for brightness and dimension all over. Each one is placed for your natural colour, your existing colour and your haircut, whether you want a soft blended blonde or maximum brightness.
Who it’s for
Maximum lightness and movement while keeping some of your base colour showing through. Brighter and more uniform than balayage, softer than an all-over bleach.
What you also need to book
- A toner. Highlights lighten; toner sets the shade. If we’re using lightener (bleach), book the BlondorPlex Toner. Otherwise, add a toner.
- A cut or a blow-dry. Book a cut, wash and blow-dry or a wash and blow-dry alongside this.
What to know
- Regrowth shows more than it does with balayage, so the interval between appointments is shorter. Between full appointments, Express Regrowth Highlights will keep the visible areas fresh.
- It can be combined with a tint on the roots if you’re covering grey at the same time. Tell us when you book so we allow the time.
- Patch test: needed if you’re new to colour with us, or haven’t had colour here in the last six months — at least 48 hours before.

“I know a few people who go to PeterJames and their hair always looks fabulous so I thought I would try too after having a disaster! From the min I worked in for my patch test I felt welcome (so did my daughter who loved the dogs!) James and I talked over what we could do and where I wanted to be (was dark brown/grey! And wanted blonde) he explained it would take a few appointments which I was absolutely fine with as he was so honest.. he booked me in with Peter for the following week and again, Peter went over and explained everything to me, he advised on products etc and I left feeling amazing and had a nice Colour after getting highlights.. unfortunately I was really unwell between my appointments and in and out of hospital but I kept in touch and Peter even sent my products I had ordered to my parents house where I was staying for a bit.I am just home from my second appointment and my hair looks and feels fantastic, the colour is amazing and I cannot believe the shine (I’ve never had a shine when having blonde hair before!) just arranged to go out with my friend tonight as I feel so much more confident!! How is this different from half head or T-section highlights?
Full head highlights go through the whole head: top, sides, underneath and hairline. Half Head Highlights cover the top and sides only, leaving the underneath as it is, and T-Section Highlights cover just the parting and around the hairline.
Should I choose full head highlights or balayage?
Full head highlights are foiled, and brighter and more uniform than balayage, which is hand-painted and grows out softly without a hard line. Regrowth shows more with highlights, so the interval between appointments is shorter.
Is a toner included?
No. Highlights lighten; toner sets the shade. If we're using lightener (bleach), book the BlondorPlex Toner. Otherwise, add a toner to your booking.
How do I keep them looking fresh between appointments?
Between full appointments, Express Regrowth Highlights will keep the visible areas fresh. It's up to ten foils plus a toner, and it's only bookable within eight weeks of your last highlighting service.
Can I have my grey covered at the same appointment?
Yes, full head highlights can be combined with a tint on the roots if you're covering grey at the same time. Tell us when you book so we allow the time.
