Who it’s for
Full grey coverage, or changing your colour to a definite new shade — going darker, going richer, or evening out patchy old colour.
What to know
- This is the best grey coverage of anything on the menu.
- Once you’ve had a full head tint you’ll normally only need the roots doing next time — Re-Growth Tint is the appointment to book, and it costs less.
- Tint can darken, deposit, and go a shade or two lighter. It can’t lift you meaningfully lighter — that needs bleach.
- A patch test is needed if you’re new to us.

“I was visiting from overseas and usually quite pedantic with my foils. I found Zowie on instagram and I’m so glad I did! She made me the most perfect golden blonde that I’ve been trying to get hairdressers to achieve for a long time now. She was also very thorough and gentle and all around a good person. “I know a few people who go to PeterJames and their hair always looks fabulous so I thought I would try too after having a disaster! From the min I worked in for my patch test I felt welcome (so did my daughter who loved the dogs!) James and I talked over what we could do and where I wanted to be (was dark brown/grey! And wanted blonde) he explained it would take a few appointments which I was absolutely fine with as he was so honest.. he booked me in with Peter for the following week and again, Peter went over and explained everything to me, he advised on products etc and I left feeling amazing and had a nice Colour after getting highlights.. unfortunately I was really unwell between my appointments and in and out of hospital but I kept in touch and Peter even sent my products I had ordered to my parents house where I was staying for a bit.I am just home from my second appointment and my hair looks and feels fantastic, the colour is amazing and I cannot believe the shine (I’ve never had a shine when having blonde hair before!) just arranged to go out with my friend tonight as I feel so much more confident!! Is a full head tint the best option for covering grey?
Yes. It's permanent colour applied from root to tip, and it gives the best grey coverage of anything on the menu: solid, even, edge-to-edge.
Can a tint make my hair lighter?
Tint can darken, deposit, and go a shade or two lighter. It can't lift you meaningfully lighter; that needs bleach, such as Full Head Bleach & Tone.
Can I use it to change my colour rather than cover grey?
Yes. As well as full grey coverage, it's for changing your colour to a definite new shade: going darker, going richer, or evening out patchy old colour.
What should I book next time?
Once you've had a full head tint you'll normally only need the roots doing. Re-Growth Tint is the appointment to book, and it costs less.
How is it different from Colour Touch?
Colour Touch is demi-permanent. It adds tone, richness and shine and blends early or scattered greys softly, but it won't give solid coverage on stubborn or dense grey. Full head tint is permanent colour for solid coverage.
